The Chattanooga Sustainable Farmers was created in late 2009 when a group of 13 farmers operating small farms within a 50 mile radius of Chattanooga came together to take part in the Benwood Foundation’s Food System Ideas Competition. One of five successful applicants, the CSF was awarded $75,000 for up to three years for the purpose of formalizing the organization and investigating potential projects to benefit co-op members.
